At 10:48 hrs on 11 July 2026, PJM Rescue received a request for assistance following a reported fatality on Lake Kariba.
In accordance with the request, the matter was first reported to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP). PJM Rescue then transported ZRP officers by rescue boat from the Kariba mainland to the scene to enable them to carry out their official investigation.
Once the ZRP had completed their examination and authorised the recovery, PJM Rescue respectfully transported the deceased back to the Kariba mainland in the company of the attending ZRP officers.
We are pleased to confirm that the venue involved was a current PJM Rescue Member. As a result, all rescue boat services associated with this incident were provided in accordance with the membership benefits, with no additional charges.
Incidents such as these demonstrate the importance of having a dedicated, professional rescue service available on Lake Kariba, not only for medical emergencies and breakdowns but also to assist the authorities when required.
PJM Rescue extends its sincere appreciation to our Captain and crew for their professionalism, compassion, and commitment during this operation.
